RENSSELAER COUNTY - Rensselaer County Sheriffs say they have investigated over 20 fires in the last 5 years that were suspicious in nature.
Now they are asking for the public's help to solve those cases.
One of the most recent was a garage fire on Main Street in Schaghticoke last week.
The flames spread to a nearby house, with five people inside.
All were able to get out safely.
At the time, we were told the fire was suspicious because there was no electricity in the garage. “Between the years of 2008 and 2010 particularly, we investigated over twenty fires that were suspicious in nature,” said Rensselaer County Sheriff Department’s Sgt. Shane Holcomb, “We have persons of interest but no definite suspects at this time.”
Investigators would not say, however, if the persons of interest are in connection with the most recent fire in Schaghticoke.
