GLENS FALLS - Glens Falls Hospital says the medical records of more than 2,300 patients may have been compromised.
The hospital says it stored those records for more than 4 months on an unprotected computer server.
A spokeswoman tells our media partners at the Post Star that there is no way to tell if any records were accessed or how.
Local computer security expert, Mike Stamas of Greycastle Security says:
"If your personal info was compromised through a health care breach, your personal informational could be used for various things for treatment, for opening credit cards. There's really countless ways it can be used fraudulently."
Social security numbers, addresses and financial information were not stored with the records.
The hospital says notices have been sent to potentially impacted patients.
Anyone with questions about their medical records can call 1-877-630-8410.
