BALLSTON SPA - Some Saratoga County senior citizens received a lesson in criminal justice Tuesday.
About four dozen seniors filled the county grand jury room to hear from District Attorney Jim Murphy about how the system works.
They asked questions ranging from how bail is determined to what kinds of crimes are presented to a grand jury.
They learned that cases are rarely as simple as they're portrayed in television dramas.
The course is offered through Empire State College over an eight week-period and also includes lessons from police investigators, judges, and defense attorneys
