ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Police in Albany say a city resident has been ticketed after his two large dogs fatally attacked two smaller canines being walked by their owner.
Officials say the attack occurred as a man was walking his poodle bichon frise mixes in an Albany alley around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Police say an English bull mastiff and a Presa Canario each weighing more than 100 pounds broke through a fence at the rear of a home and severely mauled the smaller dogs, which both died at the scene. The man wasn't injured.
The larger dogs were seized and are being quarantined for 10 days.
Police say the dogs' owner, a 42-year-old man, was ticketed by an animal control officer for six violations for each animal, including vicious dog and dog running loose.
