COEYMANS - The case against Assemblyman Steven Katz has been dismissed.
The assemblyman was accused of possessing marijuana after a traffic stop last month.
His attorney said often times police reports are not correct.
Katz was pulled over on the Thruway in Coeymans on March 14. State police sent out a news release saying Katz was speeding. They also said the trooper smelled marijuana and arrested Katz for possession of marijuana.
His attorney told WNYT Thursday that Katz only received tickets.
Thursday in court, the whole thing was dismissed in a matter of minutes.
Katz was there. His attorney says the tickets were reduced to a parking ticket carrying a $75 fine.
There was no clear explanation on what happened to the allegations of marijuana possession. The arresting officer was not in court.
NewsChannel 13 has reached out to police to find out what happened in this case.
State police have not yet called back.
