AVERILL PARK - The Averill Park School District is taking a stand against the new state-wide, standardized tests.
The school board has voted for a resolution aimed at the state as well as Congress and the Obama administration.
It's calling on policymakers to reduce the over-reliance on standardized tests as the only barometer of student achievement.
The district says budget cuts limit its ability to implement new programs, including the common core standards.
It says the tests also have a negative impact on student learning time.
Today is the last day of the testing statewide.
