ALBANY - New York is one of the top five states for Lyme disease. That's not good for people who are diagnosed because there's no good test for the illness so confirmed cases could be well below the actual number of people infected.
Calls for better testing along with better treatment were on the agenda today at a rally in Albany, part of the worldwide Lyme Disease Awareness Day.
There's controversy in the medical community about how long lasting Lyme can be.
There’s a lack of knowledge in the public that one tick can transmit other bacterial diseases.
So the rallying cry Friday was more information, better research.
