Fire causes extensive damage to a Pittsfield residence

Fire officials in Pittsfield, Ma. are investigating what caused a basement fire in a five family home on Memorial Drive early Sunday morning.

According to reports, fire fighters got the alarm at 7:20am. The fire at 44 Memorial Drive reportedly started in the cellar. There are no reported injuries to any of the residents or first responders.

Fire fighters were able to get the blaze under control within an hour, but the damage was extensive enough to leave five residents without a place to stay. Officials estimate around $20,000 in damages to the building.
