QUEENSBURY - For more than half a century, the Montcalm Restaurant was a landmark in the Lake George area, but now it is closed forever to make way for another shopping center.

Thursday morning, everything will be auctioned off -- from the menus and the matchbooks, to the Elvis Presley liquor decanter

Dean Beckos shows off the decanters, nearly six decades of memorabilia, and restaurant supplies ready for the auctioneer now.

Beckos sold the restaurant and shut it down a couple of weeks ago to make way for another shopping outlet center in Queensbury

Josie Beckos-Wood and her husband Gus started the Montcalm in Lake George Village back in 1956, closed that in 1979, and consolidated in Queensbury.

Closing it all down, she says, is tough.

Forty current employees are losing their jobs, but Dean Beckos talks about opening a smaller place closer to Saratoga.

Beckos says Saratoga's economy is more "year-round," than the tourist season in Lake George.

He says government red tape and regulations were not the main reason for him selling out, but Beckos says it did make the decision a lot easier.
