Heroes Run to take place Sunday, Sept. 8

SARATOGA SPRINGS - The inaugural Saratoga Springs 9/11 Heroes Run will take place on Sunday, Sept. 8. Following is more information on the event.

A ceremony honoring civilians, first responders and veterans with the message to challenge the living by honoring the fallen will be emceed by NewsChannel 13’s Benita Zahn and begin shortly after 8a.m.

The 5k race will start at 8:30a.m, and the 1-mile family fun run/walk will immediately follow. 100% of the proceeds from the race will go to programs that help veterans and their families – locally, through Patriot Hills, Inc and nationally, through the Travis Manion Foundation.

The race will follow a course that begins at High Rock Park – home to a memorial made of steel from the World Trade Center – continues through downtown Saratoga Springs, the trails of Congress Park and along the beautiful neighborhoods surrounding downtown.
