COLONIE - Cap Com, a credit union with more than $100,000 members in the area, broke ground Thursday on a new headquarters just off Wolf Road, one of at least a dozen major developments in the Wolf Road Corridor.
To name a few, three more hotels, and several major restaurants are moving in, and a longtime auto dealership is moving out – just a sampling of what's in the works for what has become the "Main Street of the Capital Region."
The ceremonial ground-breaking was Thursday as Cap Com launched its new financial center, just off the super-busy thoroughfare known as Wolf Road.
Colonie Supervisor Paula Mahan says Wolf Road is booming.
Three new hotels are also on the drawing boards, including a "Staybridge Suites" right next door to Colonie Center.
Also, close-by to the new Cap Com Financial Center, a Hilton Suites place like this one
Mahan credits the boom to the end of the recession, and high tech growth in the Capital Region
The McDonald's on Wolf Road is about to be torn down to make way for a bigger one.
And for all you health nuts, Whole Foods is about to locate inside the Sears store.
Mahan says "All of these things are coming together to attest to the growth in the area."
