PITTSFIELD - Bail was set at $100 thousand on Tuesday for a Boston-area teen.
He's accused in a brutal rape at an Otis summer camp.
The alleged rape and indecent assault involved three Somerville High school juniors in Berkshire County as part of a team building trip.
Their alleged victims, three freshmen players on their own team.
Only one of the three defendants is 17 and charged as an adult. The other two face charges in juvenile court, their identities are being protected.
Investigators say the three young men entered the freshmen cabin at Camp Lenox in Otis a week ago Sunday and grabbed a broom handle.
“There was a general consensus that the defendant and his co-defendants entered and began saying things along the lines of we're going to pick someone. It's you. No, it's you. No, it's you, pointing to various freshmen,” said the prosecutor.
In court this morning she recounted the investigators' report of what 17 year old Galileo Mondol is accused of doing to his young victim..
“He was grabbed, forced to get on all fours, your honor. His pants were removed from him,” she says.
The prosecutor went on to claim the broomstick was inserted brutally into the victim's body, causing persistent bleeding.
In court today and later outside Mondol's attorney vehemently denied the accusation.
“The victim says he didn't do it. The co-defendants said he didn't do it,” said the attorney.
Two other freshmen were allegedly grabbed by Mondol and his two buddies, but they managed to resist
Mondol was ordered held at the Berkshire County House of Correction pending $100 thousand cash or $1 million surety bond.
He's due back in Central Berkshire County District Court on Friday for a dangerousness hearing.
No word on the status of the two co-defendants who are less than 17.
