It was a scary situation for Columbia High School’s football team, early Friday evening.
The bus they were riding in to their season opener at Shen got a flat tire and was then rammed by another vehicle on Alternate Route 7.
State Police say it happened a little after 5 p.m. after the person driving the car that hit the bus was blinded by glare from the sun.
Police say he was reaching for his sunglasses.
His vehicle spun out and hit another car.
The driver who was blinded had minor neck pains and went to Albany Medical Center.
No one else was hurt.
One lane was closed for an hour as crews cleaned up and towed the bus.
No one was ticketed.
A different bus picked up the football players and they eventually made it to the game - about 45 minutes late.
