A Schenectady man is facing charges in New York City after police officers say he was responsible for a fatal hit and run accident in Queens.
Around 7:00pm Friday officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck at 97th Ave and 117th St. The victim, 59-year-old Raj Chohan, was taken to Jamaica Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police say the driver, 23-year-old Vishwanand Subryan of Schenectady, fled the scene. Officers caught up to Subryan at 115th St. and 101nd Ave. and placed him under arrest without incident.
Subryan is charged with Vehicular Manslaughter, Criminally Negligent Homicide, Leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and DWI.
