ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Officials are recommending 20 properties in New York be nominated for the state and national registers of historic places.
The New York State Board for Historic Preservation included in its list of recommendations the Kingsford Historic District in Oswego, St. James Episcopal Church in Lake George and the Cattaraugus Commercial Historic District.
Recommendations approved by the state historic preservation officer are listed on the New York State Register of Historic Places and then nominated to the National Register of Historic Places.
Historic places listed on the state and national registers are eligible for more government preservation programs, including matching grants and tax credits.
