State Education Commissioner, John King, Jr. is cancelling a number of community forums, including one in Clifton Park, blaming what he calls disruptions caused by the special interests.

The forums were to focus on the controversial common core standards.

The standards are intended to better prepare students for college and careers.

Critics say they were implemented too quickly and have resulted in a low passing rate.

As a result, Wednesday's forum at Shenendehowa is canceled.
