COLONIE - Kinderhook Congressman Chris Gibson was basically optimistic. He said "I think it's there. The agreement's already there."
Both Republican Chris Gibson and Democrat Paul Tonko talk as if the deal to operate the federal government and pay the bills that have already been incurred is agreed.
Rep. Tonko (D - Amsterdam) said "you fund your government. You have America pay her bills. Those are not demands of the Democratic Party. We have already consented. We gave the Republicans in our house their number."
Yet day after day, for 14 days now, Republican leaders of the House have failed to reach agreement with the Democrat controlled Senate, much less the Democratic President, on procedures that never before had caused such angst.
"Right now I couldn't be more disappointed in the national leadership," said Gibson. "When you take a look at where we're at, this is just wrong. I mean we can do so much better than this."
