A Bennington hospital is the focus of a state investigation following the recent death of a patient.
The Southwestern Vermont Medical Center says two emergency room nurses are accused of failing to immediately care for a patient who died unexpectedly.
The patient arrived at the emergency room complaining of back pain. After an initial assessment by nurses, the patient was found dead. A staffer then notified the two nurses, but neither responded.
A cause of death is not known.
The hospital says it expects to be cited by the state.
