RENSSELAER - Some members of Rensselaer County's Legislature want an explanation from the District Attorney's office.
They want to know how felony rape charges against a Rensselaer man were dropped because of an error by prosecutors.
John Halacy was accused of raping two teenage girls.
The most serious charges against him were dropped because prosecutors failed to indict him before a legal deadline.
Some member of the County Legislature are calling this a 'botched prosecution', and say taxpayers deserve an explanation.
