RICHMOND - A fire in Berkshire County caused explosions while fire fighters were inside the home overnight.

Fire fighters found ammunition, fireworks, a wood stove and an oil tank with 275 gallons of oil in the basement of the home in Richmond.

When all those materials caught fire, it caused an explosion.

Fire fighters got out as fast as they could.

And in the process, two fire fighters, one from Richmond, and one from New Lebanon, were forced to drop their thermal imaging cameras.

They cost about $20,000 a piece.

But, the fire chief says "I would rather lose a camera than a firefighter”

The cause is still under investigation.
