GUILDERLAND – An Albany teen is under arrest after police say she stole from Crossgates Mall and then pepper sprayed security.

Police arrested 17-year-old Rayonna Ward on Friday afternoon.

They say tried to steal from Macy’s but was caught by the store’s Loss Prevention Officer.

Police say Ward resisted the two officers and pepper sprayed them.

Police say she also sprayed another shopper and a Macy’s employee.

Officials say the suspect was eventually detailed with the help of an off-duty police officer.

That officer was injured in the process and was treated for a cut to the wrist.

Ward faces several charges including assault, burglary and resisting arrest.

She also has two outstanding warrants, according to police.
