An employee with the Department of Social Services has been suspended after an investigation showed that reports of inspections at the Skylane Motel in Colonie may have been falsified.

This information comes from Albany County Executive Dan McCoy.

McCoy is now ordering a review of all inspections of properties where people are placed that need help from DSS.

The Skylane Motel was closed last week after more than 250 code violations were found. Town officials say some rooms had feces smeared across the floor. Other rooms had concentrations of mold and wiring described as a death trap.

The owner of the motel, Alex Patel, pleaded not guilty to the code violations.

A second hotel owned by Patel, the Blu-Bell Motel, was raided on Thursday. Town officials say a large part of that building is also uninhabitable.
