There's a new surgery to fix one of the most common sports injuries.

Doctors are using tissue from the thigh to fix ruptured Achilles tendons. For some people it can be the difference between being able to run again, versus never walking.

The tendon connects the back of the calf with the heel bone. It's one of the strongest tendons in the body, but it's also one of the most vulnerable to injury.

Five percent of patients have complications after surgery and that can lead to more surgery.

Doctors say this new technique will lower risks and patients will make a full recovery.
