COLONIE - While the Capital Region was digging out, a local woman was at the airport preparing a Valentine surprise for her husband.

He was on his way back from a business trip and she wanted to make sure he had a clean car for the ride home.

If you love sappy love songs and sappy love stories, you're going to love this one, especially since it's Valentine's Day.

The act is really simple, the woman says.

But the thought behind it is what she believes her husband won't soon forget.

On this day, for her valentine Dianne Windling is doing something unusual...

“I never thought it would be this buried. I'm definitely out of breath,” she says.

This is her husband's car, in long term parking at the Albany International Airport for the past 10 days.

Two snow storms and it's buried under a mountain of snow.

“He's coming home in business clothes and business shoes,” she explains.

Not the proper attire to dig out his car, so Dianne decided to surprise him.

“I left work early and came over to dig it out for him for Valentine's Day.”

After twenty seven years of marriage with Philippe, a French native, she says it still feels the first day when she met him Schenectady.

She surprises him from time to time.

‘But I haven't done anything like this. He'll be surprised when he comes out.”

As if cleaning off the car wasn't enough, Dianne brought chocolate, to sweeten his ride home on this Valentine's Day.

“I’m going to leave him chocolate, a water bottle and a banana in case he chooses the healthy option.”

And to top it all off, the celebration will continue well beyond Friday.

“Iit's our anniversary tomorrow, 27 years. It's a good way to celebrate it.”
