TROY - A man has been found guilty of charges in a crash that killed his friend. Brendan Hoffman, 22, crashed on Cranston Road last June.
He was both drunk and high at the time.
His passenger, Christopher Baker, 24, was thrown from the car and died.
Family members from both sides walked out of the courtroom feeling there were no winners in this case.
The central question in the case was who exactly was behind the wheel.
Hoffman's attorney's argued that he was the passenger. Witnesses say the two were together the night of the crash, drinking and smoking pot. However, in the end the jury believed the evidence from prosecutors who showed that Hoffman was the driver.
While he was found guilty of all 12 charges. However, three most serious ones were dismissed by the judge right after the verdict.
Hoffman is looking at five to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced on April 25.
