ALBANY – The man who portrayed the Albany Devils mascot, "Devil Dawg," at most of their games has died.
The Times Union reports Alex Held passed away after an accidental fall at his home. He was 22 years old.
Held began portraying the mascot for some games in 2012.
He wore the costume for every game except one this past season.
According to his official obituary, Held was a 2010 graduate of Columbia High School.
He was currently enrolled at Hudson Valley Community College.
Calling hours begin at noon Saturday at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm Street in Nassau. A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m.
