If you suffer from restless legs syndrome, you might want to check your iron levels.
While it's not known what causes RLS, research has uncovered a link between low iron and dopamine.
Medications are available to treat the bothersome condition, but you can also try natural ways to relieve the urge to move your legs.
"All it may take is a quick walk to the bathroom or the kitchen. Just get out of bed very quickly sometimes that's enough. Other times just rubbing the legs or a light massage,” says Dr. Charles Bae, of the Cleveland Clinic.
A warm bath or shower may also help.
You may also benefit from reading, crossword puzzles or something that keeps your mind active before bedtime.
