SARATOGA SPRINGS - It’s a grieving family's word against the police department.
Authorities are out with their final report on the controversial case of Daryl Mount.
The family continues to charge police brutality. In its final report on Friday the public safety commissioner said the actions of his officers were justified and they did not cause the serious injuries - which just recently led to the death of that 22-year-old.
This is a case that goes back to the early morning hours of last August 31. Summer in Saratoga - a busy bar night on Broadway. Police say they witnessed Daryl Mount assaulting a woman - slamming her head into a wall. They still maintain during that chase mount fell from scaffolding which left him paralyzed. He died last month.
They say they have surveillance photos and video that show the assault, but they're not releasing that part of the video to the public. Only pictures that show Mount in a red shirt on Broadway.
The family still thinks police caused Mount's injuries.
They were at City Hall on Friday, disgusted as the police released their findings.
Miranda Mount – Daryl’s sister got into a heated exchange with the public safety commissioner.
Mount says she can't understand why the police department doesn't have a review board to look into these cases.
She says she'll keep fighting for justice. As far as police are concerned - it's case closed.
